Reviewing the audio-visual production of "Children of the Sun" (book & CD) came easy to me, as I am a child advocate by nature, a child psychiatrist by profession and a father of five. I also have a deep interest in the spiritual education of children and adults and now have a new and important tool in this cause.
The book and its accompanying CD is a wonderful array of color, vision, prose, music and song. These are the important doors into the brain, mind and spirit of children. The story line has a flair of magic that all young children are comfortable with and yet this magical aura slowly turns into a realistic story that in the end rings true in the Heart, especially in the stillness that the music and words evoke. The artwork has a simplicity which children like yet has an "otherworldly" richness and texture that transforms the child out of their normal frame of reference. A nice touch is that every page has the full color picture on one side and a muted mirror image on the opposite side, over laid by the prose. This double image nicely reflects the reality of parallel universes that modern physics know we exist within.
The storyline is an allegory of Humanity's forward journey into the Light …of Love, Understanding and the correct use of Power. Its foundation is in Biblical truth (with many quotes from the Bible), beginning with the experience of Moses and continuing with the Teachings of Beloved Jesus. But then importantly it expands into the Law of Life as taught by the Angels and Divine Masters that guide our spiritual journey in the present moment. Esoteric truths are distilled into simple prose and delightful, joyous song. The book is based entirely on the power of Love …our Love for God and God's Love working through us to create a better world. It avoids any element of fear but rather instills a great faith that Love and understanding the Law of Life can and does overcome all that is less than Love.
"Children of the Sun" develops a deep sense of safety and security in knowing our spiritual truth and the rich inner life we can all claim in that truth. Even the name confers that all children have the Sun as a common blessing and all understand its warmth and Light. As well, a brother/sisterhood with the angels, animals and spirit kingdom is woven into the story. And from that, an even stronger, safer sense that all Humanity is one is evoked. And a reverence for all life is laid down. And we all know that only out of these tenets will Peace truly manifest on Earth. From this premise it then promotes the simple reality that every day should be fun, prosperous and creative and the next day even better …Heaven on Earth! And in the light of recent events that have brought fear to the surface, children (of all ages) need to hear this reality over and over and over again.
More and more we understand that children do not come into this world a blank slate but rather as a distinct temperament, very possibly with memories of "the other side" (parallel universe). Although each of our children is a distinct soul, which every parent and teacher understands, they may well have a common primordial memory of our spiritual Reality that transcends earthly life, which this book wonderfully evokes. It is for this reason and all the above, that I whole-heartedly recommend "Children of the Sun" (book and included CD) to all parents, teachers and seekers of all ages. It could not have come at a better time
